by Matt Richenthal is the Editor in Chief of TV Fanatic.

The fake Amanda Clark was not the only person to see a different side to Jack Porter at the conclusion of last week’s Revenge.

The Jack Porter that fans of this ABC series have come to know would not put on a black suit and whisk away his girlfriend to Atlantic City. So might this be a sign of a new direction for the typically uptight bartender?

“Maybe,” Nick Wechsler teased to me over the phone. “Down the road, we may see Jack doing things we didn’t expect him to be doing. We’ll see a darker side and that was getting the ball rolling on it.”

Interesting. If a few words of wisdom from Declan – and some same-sex-kissing from Amanda – simply get the ball rolling, where might that ball head when Daniel proposes to Emily? How will Jack to this development?

Wechsler played coy, hinting that Jack will be “distracted” when he learns of the news, while also admitting his heart will “sink a little.”

But “he won’t be able to feel the weight of it in that moment,” the actor said, perhaps hinting that something goes down during his trip with Amanda.

Overall, Jack hasn’t really been in on a lot of the action. He isn’t scheming with Emily like Nolan, or plotting the demise of his soon-to-be ex, like Victoria. Does the actor himself grow restless? Is he jealous of those who are always up to something?

“I’m happy to wait for it,” he said. “But I play a lot of dodgeball – because I’m seven – and you do just wanna be in the game. It’s a bummer to watch from the sidelines.”

It sounds like he might not be doing that for much longer.

Revenge Boss Teases ‘Very Big’ and ‘Terrible’ Things Ahead! Plus: Someone’s Leaving!

From tvline.com
Will Jack and Emily ever rekindle their childhood romance? Is Amanda’s true identity finally going to be revealed? Could Nolan really be Em’s half-sib? And what about Charlotte?!

Those are just some of burning questions that remain in play as ABC’s Revenge resumes its addictive freshman run tonight at 10/9c. Below, showrunner Mike Kelley sheds some light on those aforementioned mysteries/theories and teases what’s to come.

TVLINE | Let’s assume everyone has seen the first 10 minutes of Revenge‘s winter premiere. What happens next?
Well, one character is escorted from the show. Once somebody gets “revenged” they have a tendency to come back with a revenge plan of their own, so I will say that much. That’s what you can expect on the heels of Episode 11. We’re trying to expand on the theme of revenge, so it’s not just Emily’s plot to take down everyone. She happens to have poked a particularly stingy beehive this time. A lot of these people aren’t just going to rest on their laurels when they’ve been taken down. We’re going to embrace what revealed itself to be the true nature of this show, which is that it’s an old school soap opera with a super hook.

TVLINE | Piggybacking on that, was it always the plan to have Tyler and Amanda, or rather Ashton Holmes and Margarita Levieva, around as long as they have been?
We have a long-term, a mid-term and a short-term plan for each character that we bring in, and it often has to do with the chemistry of who gets cast and who fits in this world. And without naming names, there have been some instances where we had longer intentions with characters and found that it wasn’t quite working — and not by the fault of anyone or anything in particular — it just sometimes didn’t quite click, and you have to allow for those trap doors. But I would say that Ashton and Margarita brought something to this world, a certain amount of energy and danger and fun — people love to sneer when they are watching them! Especially when you’re dealing with someone like Emily Thorne, who is about as anti as an anti-hero gets because what she does is pretty awful, so you want to make sure you balance that out with enough bad people for the audience [to cheer her on]. That said, we do have a plan for both of them, but how long we draw it out depends on the strength of the performances and how it’s all clicking.

TVLINE | So, it’s safe to assume Amanda will be around for the foreseeable future?
It’s safe to say that she has a lot of cards in her deck. She started off with Emily and now she’s got her hooks into Jack. What’s interesting about this character is that she truly is loyal to Emily. She believes they have a sister-type friendship, and that makes her an asset for Emily Thorne when she needs her.

TVLINE | Speaking of Jack and Amanda, what’s ahead for them? Will he ever become wise to her true identity?
Jack has the purest heart and the best intentions. I don’t think he looks at people and thinks they are capable of the evil doings going on around him. He’s sort of willfully ignorant of the inconsistencies in Amanda’s story, but he really wants to believe her story — he named his boat after her for goodness sake! [Laughs] There’s a lot of wish-fulfillment there. She’ll reveal herself to not be the girl he was hoping she would be — and I actually mean that in the personality way — and it’s going to be a challenge. But she’s also going to introduce to him a bit of spontaneity and danger and bravery that he wasn’t embracing before, so she’s not just going to have a negative impact on Jack. Ultimately, something very big is going to happen in Episode 13 where a decision has to be made between Jack and Amanda, and Emily is deeply involved.

TVLINE | We’ve also heard there may be new character — a guy — coming around who will impact the twosome.
I can say that we are bringing in a number of new characters with small arcs, and yes, somebody will appear and make things complicated. [Laughs]

TVLINE | Are you able to give a sliver of hope to all of those Jack/Emily devotees out there?
That epic draw toward one another that those two actors create when they are in the same frame, we want to maintain that for as long as we can before we annoy anybody. But I will tell you that when and if Jack and Emily kiss for the first time, Jack will be kissing Amanda Clarke knowingly. I can’t tell you if that’s going to happen this season, next season or 100 seasons from now, I just know that the one thing Emily protects is Jack and if it ever leads to a romance — and I’m not saying that’s going to happen — there will be nothing but openness, honesty, truth and forgiveness between them.

TVLINE | There seem to be two schools of thought when it comes to the relationship between Emily and Nolan. The first is that they are siblings and he knows it, and the second is that they are — or will be — romantically interested in one another.
I would say their relationship is — hmmm, what are the cryptic words I want to use? — deeper than one of them is aware of. You never know who is going to end up with whom, but for now we’re going to explore romantic chemistry with different characters for these two. And I will not confirm or deny any fraternal ties these two have. [Laughs]

TVLINE | Interesting… And the most popular theory currently is that Charlotte and Emily are half-sisters. Care to comment?
The answer to that question is coming very, very soon.

TVLINE | We keep hearing about Episode 15 and the trial, but what’s the plan beyond that installment? Anything big to tease about the remainder of Season 1?
The murder on the beach at the start of this show [was initially] the inciting incident — which is what a show begins with and then there’s the fallout from that. But what’s really neat is that Revenge‘s inciting incident really happens in Episode 15. Something terrible happens and [beyond that] it’s about how all of [the characters] react to what that is. Emily and Victoria are going to find themselves in a situation where they have to work together; some very surprising things about Victoria’s origins will be revealed. It all frees us up to keep moving forward. It’s a true soap and the surprises will keep coming, I’ll tell you that much.

from the futon critic

Interview: “Revenge” Creator Mike Kelley
By Jim Halterman (TFC)

Now that we’re in the middle of November, it’s a bit clearer to see which new shows that premiered with much fanfare this fall have failed miserably and which have succeeded. ABC’s “Revenge” easily is part of the latter category as the soapy drama has been trouncing timeslot competitors “CSI” and “Law & Order: SVU” in the coveted adult viewers 18-49. What is it about this “The Count of Monte Cristo” retelling starring Emily VanCamp as a revenge-bent young woman stirring up trouble in the Hamptons that is pulling in the viewers? The best person to ask is “Revenge” creator/Executive Producer Mike Kelley, who spoke with our Jim Halterman last week about initially casting key roles on the show, the evolution of the revenge plan of Emily Thorne (VanCamp’s character) and what we’ll see in tonight’s episode now that the real Emily Thorne (Margarita Levieva) has turned up.

Jim Halterman: Are you okay with people calling ‘Revenge’ a soap opera? Or do you take offense to that?

Mike Kelley: No, I think as long as it’s entertaining you and you’re watching you can call it anything you want. I think it’s good mystery, it’s good soap [but] it’s not directly inside the soap box, if that makes any sense. It has a lot of different themes and it’s a fresh take, I think, on a tried and true format. By the way, I grew up watching nighttime dramas like ‘Dynasty,’ ‘Knots Landing’ and ‘Melrose Place’ and those things so, no, if I fit into that category, I consider that high praise!

JH: Going into the development of the show, I can imagine the challenges in casting the right actresses for the Emily and Victoria characters. And the fact that Emily VanCamp has always played these nice girls on ‘Brothers & Sisters’ and ‘Everwood.’ Who knew she would be so great as a bad girl!

MK: Emily’s name came up since she’s been in the ABC family for awhile and I loved the idea immediately because of what you just said. She’s unexpected. You need to be able to get very quickly on the side of somebody who is doing quite diabolical things and the fact that people recognize her as the girl next door and associate her as a sister or an old girlfriend or somebody you trust, that was essential in order to gain sympathy for what happened to this character and to embrace the terrible things she’s planning to do with these people.

JH: Madeleine Stowe is also terrific to watch as Victoria. Watching her in the pilot, I couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Why hasn’t she been on a series before now?’

MK: She’s very selective. She read the role and actually contacted us after her representation said, ‘There’s something out there that you should be aware of.’ She came in and sat down with myself and Marty Bowen, one of the producers, and we loved her. She’s so smart and she’s so beautiful and she’s game. She’s enjoying those wicked turns and I think what she does, because she’s such a smart actor, she insists on ungrounding Victoria at moments. She’s up for doing anything we write for her as long as we give her moments of humanity and, ultimately, as we get into the back-half of the season, we’re going to do a bit of origins work on this character to maybe help the audience understand a little bit more why she is the woman that she is. She brings complexity and craft and a feature credibility that I can’t imagine the show without. We got very lucky!

JH: In regards to Emily’s plan at this point in the show, is this something you see as a series long plan or will it change season after season?

MK: We’ve mapped out the season and the emotional arcs inside the structure of her revenge. What happens is we do a flash-forward in the pilot to the engagement party where the murder takes place and at that moment Emily’s plans take a hard right angle and things get a bit out of her control. She’s now emotionally invested in people she’s been meaning to destroy and other people around her are starting to get hurt. There’s an examination of what she’s doing that takes place in the back part of the season. However, something so rotten, something so diabolical happens to her at the hands of Victoria plus a larger understanding of the conspiracy that brought her father down and a number of key players that will pop up will help push us into the next season.

I think the thing that is great about this show is that it lives in so many places now. There are these individual one-off takedowns like the child psychologist that she locked up and then there’s the senator that she exposed for being a philanderer… we’ve been holding off for awhile because we’ve been getting so into the drama between our characters but one of the first things that’s going to happen as we get into our back-order is that we’re going to do a good old traditional take down and it’s an exciting one. We’re finding the different range of ‘Revenge’ episodes. We’ll have some that are more emotional ones, more shocking ones and more origins and we’ll learn a lot. This is a drama that could run for a very long time because one of the turns in the back half of the season is Victoria going after her own revenge and it’s not necessarily on Emily.

JH: In the last episode, we met the real Emily Thorne and she’s now in the Hamptons. I’m assuming this is something of a game changer but how much talk went into the ‘when’ of that character’s appearance?

MK: We had it pretty well planned when we wanted her to come in. We have an arc for her that is really essential and Frank (Max Martini), the dearly departed, he was getting way too close to what was happening… [VanCamp's] Emily has manipulated this girl by befriending her and will continue to play the sister part but ultimately she’s going to use this girl in order to keep her hands clean. However, this girl has an agenda of her own. It’s a real exciting turn but we carry her all the way through in the back nine.

JH: Talk to me about that love triangle that is forming with Emily, Jack and Daniel. Both Jack (Nick Wechsler) and Daniel (Josh Bowman) are good guys in their own way so it’s tough to pick which one Emily should be with. I’ve actually seen Team Daniel and Team Jack groups forming on Twitter.

MK: In the blueprint for ‘Revenge’ and in Emily’s head, she had Daniel tagged as this entitled, rich brat who was supposed to be easily expendable as well as her plan to take down Victoria and Conrad (Henry Czerny). But the surprise for her is that this is the guy who has been a victim in so many ways of Victoria and that family so she’s finding that she has real emotions for this guy, which is really complicating her plan. Jack, he represents her family and he’s all that’s really left of that. He’s the only one that knew her as the child she was and there’s a purity to the feeling that she has when she’s around him. They both are feeling a connection to Emily and she’s pulled to both of them, too. She’s siding with Daniel against his mother and father in so many ways and she’s feeling her childhood through Jack so this triangle will continue. It’s a huge component of the show and I just want to remind everybody that because this is ‘Revenge’ and because terrible things happen that good people can turn bad either slowly or quickly so nobody is going to be untouched by the stories coming up. We want to make sure that there’s a broad range of possibilities and so at some point Jack may not be as noble as we’ve seen him.

JH: When a show hits early and starts getting a lot of buzz, sometimes there ends up being a lot of guest stars coming in and we all know some shows use those big names well and others not so much. Are you thinking about that at all as you move further into season one?

MK: We have a really interesting opportunity with actors with a little more notoriety who are brought into this show because we have those one-off revenge episodes and take downs. Quite frankly we’re in the middle of trying to figure out who the best actor is for this upcoming big splashy take down. I can tell you that the character is kind of a Dominick Dunne/Truman Capote type but we’re talking about how far do we want to go as far as offering it to a celebrity but, really, it’s about the best actor for the part. A lot of people have expressed an interest especially Madeleine’s friends and co-stars from some of the feature films that she’s done. She’s worked with some of the best leading men there are and so those names are on the list.

JH: I personally Kevin Costner is ready to do some TV. Just sayin’?

MK: Right?! And you know that Kevin and Madeleine starred in the movie called ‘Revenge?’

JH: I do know that!

MK: That should be our first big name. I think you just cast it for us!

Revenge: Is There Any Hope for Emily and Jack? Emily VanCamp and Nick Wechsler Weigh In

by Meg Masters

Revenge‘s wholesome Jack Porter took an enormous leap of faith in last Wednesday’s episode by professing his love to the alluring Emily Thorne. Of course, unbeknownst to him, said Hamptons “It” girl is actually his childhood sweetheart Amanda Clarke, and yet that stil ldoesn’t stop her from rejecting his advances.

So, what’s next for the star-crossed twosome? Is there any hope for a romantic reunion down the road?

“Look, Jack came right out and made a play for Emily, and she shot him down,” the character’s portrayer, Nick Wechsler, tells TVLine. “It was pretty heartbreaking for him, and so moving forward he is going to take a huge step back from her… It’s just a sore subject.”

Leading lady Emily VanCamp adds that while the “undeniable connection” between the two “is completely valid,” don’t expect an actual relationship to develop anytime soon. “It was so hard for Emily to shut him down because there’s such a deep love there, but she’s decided to take it to the next level with Daniel (Josh Bowman), and you’ll soon realize just how committed she is to that relationship.”

Ah, yes, Daniel. The guy who was supposed to be Emily’s fake love interest, only now things have taken a turn for the serious. “She’s going to struggle with her feelings for Daniel because it really is terrible that she’s using him, but it soon becomes more than that.

“And then there’s always Jack,” she adds, playfully, “so she’s just in a tough position. Really.”

Still, there are some memorable Jack/Emily moments in episodes to come. Wechsler says that the vengeance-seeking gal will soon come by his bar, The Stowaway, to “give Jack a gift — a mariner’s compass which she found in her attic — and while it’s really sweet, it just messes with him again.” (Translation: the aforementioned moments aren’t necessarily good ones.)

“[But] I bet something will happen between these two in this first season,” continues the actor with a laugh. “There has to be something. But the smart play [for the writers] is probably not to give too much Emily/Jack romance just yet.”

by Stephanie Webber at TVology.com

Revenge is by far the best guilty pleasure of the season. Never has a show been so addicting and viewer’s so thrilled when it received a full season pick up recently. So many new acting faces, so many picture perfect characters that are soon seemingly broken down in the dire riches that is the Hampton’s. When a sweet enough looking Emily Thorne comes to town to seek some revenge, you just don’t know who will be the target, what the past may bring and who’s manipulating who.

The writing is brilliant and Emily’s childhood crush and now bar owner is a guilty pleasure all on his own. Nick Wechsler, who portrays Jack Porter in the series, was happy enough to talk to Ology about the hit series and shared some spoilers about tonight’s episode.

OLOGY: First off, have to ask. How was it finding out about the full season pick up?

NICK WECHSLER: It was huge. I got texts like crazy from all of them just gushing. It was great. They were all so sweet. They were saying, ‘Hey do you want to come with us on set to celebrate with everyone?’ So yeah. I was unfortunately busy at the time but it was a lot of excitement. I think they brought champagne to set and apparently it was electric on set.

It was so exciting to hear there would be more. Now as of more recently, the character Nolan Ross played by Gabriel Mann seems to mention about you and your past with Amanda a lot to ‘Emily.’ How would you describe that dynamic? What are his possible motives?

I can’t give you anything, not because I can’t give you spoilers but because I don’t know. [Laughs] Somebody said once that his relationship with Emily is almost brotherly and it’s like he’s always picking on his younger sister. Her dad took him under his wing and helped him out when he was struggling. He was like a father to him and he was a father to her of course. So they’re kind of bonded. It makes sense. There’s a brother sister type of relationship. Everyone perpetually is annoyed by him. You’re kind of a friend of his reluctantly, it’s by circumstance he becomes a friend. He obviously obligates me to him with the ‘If you’re my friend I’l give you this thing [boat] back.’

I think he’s–it’s hard to say. The way he’s playing it and the way he’s directed to play it, is very ambiguous. Its hard to know if he’s manipulating us or if his intentions are good. We don’t know what he’s doing. I’ll say this-he’s been really nice to me. We have a moment in an upcoming episode where I’m kind of sh*tty to him and I end up apologizing. He makes a nice gesture and offers to leave me alone and I’m the a**hole. But he tends to manipulate the situation so I stay friends with him and I don’t know if it’s genuine or if its all part of some scheme. If he’s pulling some strings or something.

I don’t know what hand he’s going to have in this whole thing. How involved in what happened at the beginning of this show is he? How involved in the scene my character drags this body out of the surf. How involved in that was he? He seemed to know what was going on back when he was at the Fire and Ice party in the pilot. [Laughs] So I don’t know if he really is just nice or filled with manipulation.

What will it be like now that Daniel Grayson may be coming to work for Jack at the bar?

We don’t spend that much time–I don’t think I’m blowing a huge thing, but he doesn’t work there for very long. Which in some ways might be a missed opportunity but maybe not, maybe not. I think it actually makes room for something better. It only being brief makes a new more dramatic, more complicated situation. So I think the thing that it left room for is more effective. But there’s apart of me that says I wish they had known that before and never wasted time hiring Daniel, making people think something dramatic is going to happen. [Laughs] Because it doesn’t really go anywhere.

What do you think about tonight’s episode Intrigue?

My favorite script was Intrigue. This one has a lot of major stuff for every character. There’s something significant for every character except for Ashton unfortunately. Perhaps the most significant moment for my character so far. It happens in this episode and I say that because my involvement is largely that person she knows from the past and one she has feelings for. In this episode we get to address that a little more directly than we have been.

I’m so happy that Jack finally takes the leap and this triangle really begins. How does it affect Emily?

It’s my characters involvement in this whole thing, the love interest in the past. He’s someone she can’t get too close to because that threatens her whole revenge plan. Not only would it expose it, I imagine it would be hard to love me knowing who she was because she’s back for revenge. So she probably–if she just fell for me–it would just ruin her, ruin her plan. So this next episode is that significant moment that will finally address that there’s feelings going on and more direct then ever. It was just a fun scene because she’s [Emily VanCamp?] just f*cking good. The scene was well written and I for once didn’t hate what I did.

–

Revenge airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.

It may be tough to discuss the series while trying not to reveal too many spoilers but there’s so much more to come!

Check back to Ology for more Nick Wechsler talk about his Revenge cast, spoilers and what he does off set when he’s not taking on the Jack Porter character.

by Sara Bibel at Deep Soap

“Revenge” is this television season’s biggest surprise. The drama about a woman systematically destroying the lives of the people who framed her father for a crime he did not commit has turned out to be one of the most engrossing, entertaining shows on television. The show’s one truly moral character is barkeep and sailor Jack, who finds himself inexplicably drawn to Emily (Emily VanCamp), not realizing that she is really his childhood crush Amanda. Nick Wechsler, who plays the working class hero, reveals why tonight’s episode, “Intrigue” is a game-changer for almost every character, why Jack does not have the same accent as his brother Declan (Connor Paolo) and offers a possible explanation for Sammy The Dog’s surprising longevity.

The previews hint that this week Jack could be a threat to Emily. Why?
Basically, it could change his dynamic with Emily. There are many reasons he threatens her, threatens to blow her cover, threatens to reveal her whole revenge plot because he is this guy from her past she has feelings for. This is a significant episode for that kind of stuff. That’s all I’ll say about it… Episode six is one of my favorites, if not my favorite because it had so much significant character stuff for everyone except for Ashley. It gave everyone something meaty. It’s hard to write something significant for all of them [the characters] in the same episode. But in this episode, everyone gets some attention and it’s juicy stuff. There’s some cool s–t with Daniel (Joshua Bowman) and Tyler (Ashton Holmes).

Catch Up On Last Week’s Episode Of “Revenge”:

Is Tyler in love with Daniel?
It’s hard to say what his motivations are because it’s, Does he have feelings for his old college friend? So far, in this world they’ve created, everyone but Emily and the Porters, is obsessed with status and wealth so is he pursuing that and it’s all manipulation. We don’t know yet.

Does Jack on some unconscious level recognize that Emily is Amanda?
I don’t think so. I think if he knew on a subconscious level, he would know. I don’t think there’s a way you could have a huge crush on someone, think, There’s something about this girl and I can’t put my finger on it, and then somewhere in the back of your mind be like, Maybe she’s that girl I named my boat after. But maybe not – and not put those things together. I think he has to just not know. I think he confuses the sensation of being really drawn to her because of who she is to him, because of the familiarity and because of their past, with thinking, She’s just a really attractive girl who I have chemistry with.

In the last episode, Daniel took a job as a bartender at Jack’s bar. How will Jack being Daniel’s boss change the dynamic of the Jack/Emily/Daniel triangle?
The idea, I think, for having him get hired there is to ratchet up the tension as far as this love triangle’s concerned. I think ultimately it ends up not being utilized much, which is kind of disappointing because you want to make things more tense for them. Having him around makes me [Jack] really uncomfortable. I can’t wait for him to f— up so I can fire him and get rid of him. [Joshua Bowman] had this theory in an interview that maybe he takes this job to be close to Emily. I like the idea that he’s doing it to stay close to Emily, too, and to keep an eye on her. But the cool thing about it is that being his boss is such a rare moment of me having power over one of the elite. I get to manipulate the situation a little bit and it leaves me some room to pursue her a little more.

Nolan and Jack have one of the most entertaining relationships on the show. Where is their reluctant bromance headed?
It’s a generally hard one to answer because he is so ambiguous. You never know with Nolan (Gabriel Mann) if he’s manipulating the situation or if he’s trying to get close to me to [screw] with Emily or to manipulate her into letting him get involved in their relationship. Their relationship is sort of brother-sister and he’s always pushing her buttons. It’s like she’s playing ball and he wants to join and she won’t let him. So he’s like, You have to let me play or I’ll tell Mom. So it’s hard to tell if I’m a pawn to him or if he genuinely wants me to hang out with him for the summer – if he genuinely wants me to be his friend. I like the idea that he has genuine affection for her dad because he took him under his wing and nurtured his career, but it’s really hard to know where this is all going.

One of my friends swears he read that “Revenge” is a one season show. Does he need to take a reading comprehension class?
I don’t want to tell your friend that he’s really stupid, but what everyone has to keep in mind when they express this concern that we’re going to run out of ideas and it’s going to get tired because Emily can’t get revenge all the time, you’ve got to keep in mind that we’re not idiots. We’re not going to take a person down every single episode. She’d run out of red ink. The other thing he needs to keep in mind is there’s very little mystery about where a story of revenge ends up. The mystery is how we get there. Any story about revenge is ultimately a story about forgiveness, redemption, or the futility of revenge. So we are likely heading there. It’s how we get there that we can get seasons out of. You start a show about revenge with a girl taking down a baddie every episode. Then I think you start easing into character stuff, their relationships and how that complicates revenge plots. There’s plenty of stuff that can take over and not be all revenge all the time.

How is Sammy the dog so seemingly young and energetic after all these years?
Some people have been theorizing that he’s a ghost dog. He should be long dead. Is he taking a helicopter from Montauk to the Hamptons? Because that’s 40 miles or so. The episode where he runs away [to Emily], that’s unlikely. And he does it twice.

Is there ever going to be an episode where Jack asks Declan about his strange accent?
I’m going to defend Connor by saying I screwed him over. I would argue I was screwed over first, but he’s just better at it than I am. I can’t do the accent very well. So I have for the most part abandoned it because I find it distracting and I feel like an audience doesn’t give a [damn] if you say someone is from somewhere but don’t really have them do much of an accent. If I have a certain attitude and do certain things right you can get away with it easier than you can doing an accent and doing it badly. That will ruin the suspension of disbelief for everyone whereas not doing an accent will only ruin the suspension of disbelief for people from Montauk. He’s from New York and I think he relishes the challenge of seeming like he’s from this different part of New York. He’s just being a good, hard working actor and I am terrible at accents. So unfortunately I make him look bad. We got these accents kind of sprung on us at the last second like, “Oh, yeah, you’re from Montauk and we want you to do accents, so here’s three days notice and two YouTube videos.” I couldn’t get it down in time. I really am ashamed of my accent in the pilot.

Aside from the absence of everyone’s favorite wonder dog, Sammy, this was the best episode yet!

Something weird happened on the Oct. 19 episode of Revenge: Someone else did Emily’s (Emily VanCamp) work for her! That husband-stealing skank weasel Lydia (Amber Valletta) returned to the Hamptons and demanded her house back, but before Emily even got a chance to whip out her Sharpie of Death for a little circling action, Lydia was murdered by Victoria’s (Madeleine Stowe) goon. And it wasn’t even one of those borderline beautiful TV deaths; he dropped her on a friggin car!

Of course, Lydia dealt her fair share of damage before meeting her untimely — yet impeccably dressed — end. She discovered an old photo of Emily at a charity event from 2003, where she was “working” as a waitress to spy on the Graysons’ company. She also planned to expose the Graysons’ involvement in the terrorist funding. But fortunately for Emily and Victoria, she never got the chance to do either of those things.

And Emily’s love life is about to take a turn for the awkward. Though she and Daniel (Joshua Bowman) finally made sweet nasty love, her Knight in Shining Lacoste also got cut off from his daddy, leading him to ask Jack (Nick Wechsler) for a job at the bar. Because that’s exactly what Emily needs — Jack and Daniel spending more time together.

A few very important things of note:

We finally got to see what a Victoria Grayson slap looks like — sorry, Conrad — and to be honest, I was a little disappointed. Maybe I need to rewind and watch it again, but I’m pretty sure I got the idea after seven times.

Emily getting down to business with Daniel, wearing nothing but her diamonds, may have been the classiest way I’ve ever seen two people have sex on TV.

Victoria’s speech to Lydia was soap opera gold: “When you feel the warmth from my hug, that’s my hatred burning inside of you,” which she naturally followed up with a hatred-filled hug. God, I love her.

Lydia kind of had to die. She was giving Victoria and Emily a serious run for their money in the “bitchy faces” department, and the Hamptons simply is not big enough to support them all.

And now, for the question that must be asked every week…

Question: Please, please, please give me some scoop on my new addiction Revenge! I can’t get enough of this show and I’m dying to know when Jack figures out who Emily/Amanda truly is. Anything you can give me would be great. —Ellyn
Ausiello: Sounds like he’ll remain utterly and completely duped for the time being. “He’s not getting any vibe yet that she’s [the childhood love] from his past,” reveals Jack’s portrayer, Nick Wechsler. “There are moments where you think he’s onto her, even if just for a second, and then you realize that he doesn’t know.”

Question: I’m surprised by your lack of scoop on a great show like Revenge! I’m dying here! —Theresa
Ausiello: Confession: Despite having pledged my eternal allegiance to Emily VanCamp long ago, I was on the fence about Revenge at first. But I’m coming around. I really enjoyed last week’s episode, particularly the part where Emily/Amanda locked her shrink in a storage locker. That made me happy. Getting back to your scoop request, I hear Victoria’s nosy P.I. will unearth some major dirt about Emily’s past that could throw a monkey wrench into her little revenge scheme.

by Michael Ausiello at tvline.com

ABC is plotting more Revenge and putting down roots in Suburgatory.

The network has picked up both freshman series for full, 22-episode seasons, TVLine has learned. Additionally, sophomore sitcom Happy Endings has received an order for six additional scripts.

Both shows have been solid ratings performers, not to mention critical faves. This week, Revenge surged 13 percent and took the 18-49 demo crown at 10 pm for the first time. Suburgatory, meanwhile, has proven to be the perfect companion to The Middle.

There’s no word on the fate of ABC’s other rookie series, although Charlie’s Angeles seems destined to become fall’s fourth casualty after The Playboy Club, Free Agents and H8R. The plunging Pan Am needs to stabilize fast before it earns a pickup, while potential breakout hit Last Man Standing is probably a week away from a back-nine order.

For those keeping track at home, Revenge and Suburgatory join The CW’s Hart of Dixie, Secret Circle and Ringer, Fox’s New Girl, NBC’s Up All Night and Whitney, and CBS’ 2 Broke Girls in this fall’s full-season club.
